New Edition Alert: IMDG Code Supplement (IMO 210)

GNS customers are advised that IMO will publish a New Edition of the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code Supplement in September 2018. To order New Editions for your vessels please contact GNS Customer Services by emailing customerservices@gnsworldwide.com

Category: Essential Carriage Requirement for most non-Tanker categories

This title is a carriage requirement Under MARPOL and SOLAS Regulations for all applicable vessels carrying classified Dangerous Goods and Marine Pollutants at Sea as defined within the IMDG Code.

For vessels where the IMDG Code (and therefore this Supplement) is not required by mandation, this Supplement provides a useful reference in particular in terms of its Medical First Aid Guide and Emergency Response Procedures for Ships Carrying Dangerous Goods (EmS).GNS recommends it to those vessels for this reason.

Purpose and Content

The International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code lays out the regulatory framework for all aspects of handling dangerous goods and marine pollutants in sea transport, but does not include all details of procedures for packing of dangerous goods or actions to take in the event of an emergency or accident involving personnel who handle goods at sea. The IMDG Code Supplement provides this important additional information regarding procedures, packaging, actions relating to emergencies, and medical incidents that are not included in the IMDG Code but to which the IMDG Code refers.

The Supplement also includes the Medical First Aid Guide, descriptions of the reporting procedures for incidents involving dangerous goods, harmful substances and/or marine pollutants, the International Code for the Safe Carriage of Packaged Irradiated Nuclear Fuel, Plutonium and High-Level Radioactive Wastes on board Ships.

The 2018 edition of the Supplement features:

  • The Revised EmS Guide (Emergency Response Procedures)
  • The Medical First Aid Guide
  • Recommendations on the safe use of pesticides in ships
  • The INF Code
  • Other appropriate resolutions and circulars pertaining to the transport of dangerous goods

Formats

This book is available in digital format using either the IMO and Witherby eReader platforms which are both available free of charge via your Voyager HUB software or as a paper publication.
