IMO 210E IMDG Code Supplements – Jan 2021
Essential for vessels with DG Cargo onboard

The International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code relates to the safe carriage of dangerous goods by sea but does not include all details of procedures for packing of dangerous goods or actions to take in the event of an emergency or accident involving personnel who handle goods at sea. These aspects are covered by the publications that are associated with the IMDG Code, included in this Supplement.

The Supplement also includes texts of the Medical First Aid Guide, descriptions of the reporting procedures for incidents involving dangerous goods, harmful substances and/or marine pollutants, the IMO/ILO/UNECE Guidelines for packing of cargo transport units, the International Code for the Safe Carriage of Packaged Irradiated Nuclear Fuel, Plutonium and High-Level Radioactive Wastes on board Ships and other appropriate Assembly resolutions, resolutions and circulars of the Maritime Safety Committee and circulars of the Facilitation Committee and of the Sub-Committee on Dangerous Goods, Solid Cargoes and Containers. 

Course Criteria for Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) Simulator Training, 3rd Edition

 T This document provides the requirements for Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) certification, set out in Chapter II of the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) International Convention of Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978 (STCW Convention), as amended and corresponding sections of the STCW Code.

 Training courses developed in line with these criteria and delivered at centres approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), will cover the mandatory minimum requirements for the safe use of ECDIS.

This new edition supersedes and updates the previous edition Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) Simulator Training, 2nd Edition

MARPOL Map 73/78
Recommended for all vessels

This concise map is regularly updated with the latest MARPOL information and amendments. The most recent changes, effective from January 2021, concerns Annex II, the discharge of Noxious Liquid Substances (NLS). A new regulation 13.7.1.4 applies to NW Europe, including the North Sea, Norwegian Sea, Baltic Sea and Irish waters.

UK Chamber of Shipping – Bridge Resource Management Guidance
Recommended for all vessels

Management Guidance is the latest release from the UK Chamber of Shipping. This operational handbook explores what good bridge resource management looks like and details, for all types of vessel, techniques for effective and optimised bridge teams.  It equips readers with the principles and practice necessary to avoid single point failures when executing a berth to berth voyage. Commonly encountered issues are highlighted and high level BRM principles illustrate the importance of an effective management strategy. 

ESP Code 2020
Recommended for all vessels

The 2011 ESP Code provides requirements for an enhanced programme of inspections during surveys of single-hull and of double-hull bulk carriers and single-hull and double-hull oil tankers, in accordance with the provision of SOLAS regulation XI-1/2 and in line with the IACS UR Z10 series.

It provides, in particular, special requirements for:

– renewal, annual and intermediate surveys

– preparation for surveys

– documentation on board

– procedures for thickness measurements

– reporting and evaluation of surveys.

Performance Standards 2020
Recommended for all vessels

The new consolidated edition of Performance Standards for Shipborne Radiocommunications and Navigational Equipment incorporates all amendments adopted up to December 2020 including:

– Bridge alert management

– Revised performance standards and functional requirements for the long-range identification and tracking of ships

– Revised performance standards for enhanced group call (ECG) equipment, and

– Code of Alerts & Indicators, 2009
